The Giver by Lois Lowry

I'm not sure what I expected.  After seeing this book on every "best dystopian" list over the past few years (ever since I've been trying to find my next Hunger Games-esque obsession) I decided to give this one a go.  Was it a fast read? Definitely.  There is a part in the book where you definitely have one of those "oh wow aha!" moments, and that has stuck with me ever since, but I really just found the book all around lacking.  Boring world, boring descriptions, just kind of "eh".  It's such a short book it's definitely worth reading at least for the "aha" moment in it, but it will never make my best of list.
